In addition to the classes, activities and excursions, all students do two things which we feel are very important to develop their Language skills:
- they read a book and write a report on it
- Why? Because...
- they use the target language (English or Spanish) as individuals in order to understand and interpret a story completely independently,
- they do the same to express themselves in writing.
- This is a non-guided authentic use of English in a continuous context!
- they design and present a group project. This could be a trip around the world, time travel, creating a company and/or product, making a film, theatre, story-telling....
- Why? Because...
- they create an idea, and work together to plan, carry out and present it .
- This not only develops their creative, collaborative and communicative skills, but also presents them with a situation which stimulates them to use a wide variety of functions: suggesting, agreeing, disagreeing, modifying, negotiating, expressing preferences, making decisions...
- The presentations are a fantastic way to build each indivdual's confidence supported by the team, while developing a useful life skill
- the teamwork and interaction promotes positive social dynamics
