What activities can students do?
Apart from playing badminton, table-tennis or volleyball in our garden, there is a local sports centre with gym, tennis courts, climbing walls, sports halls... There are also plenty of adventure companies that offer many activities, from canoing to adventure parks. Above all, we have a natural paradise steeped in history on our doorstep. We like to get out and about as much as we can, and here is a small selection:

Walk around the shops, cafés and monuments of Cangas de Onís - the first capital of the Astur Kingdom (some claim of Spain) and cradle of the reconquest. King Pelayo made his court here after the battle of Covadonga in 722. It's Roman Bridge is probably the most emblematic monument of Asturias.

Go on a coastal walk and discover a breathtaking coastline, sandy beaches and, if you time it right, the spectacular 'Bufones' where sea water can shoot high into the air.

Go for a picnic and swim in the river - the nearest pool is just five minutes walk from the house, but our favourite is the one below - not many people know about it!

Go to the beach. There are 220 beaches in Asturias, some in towns with promenades, but most set in beautiful sandy bays surrounded by green vegetation and with mountain views behind. It's not for nothing that Asturias is known as 'Natural Paradise'!
